Ban Ki-moon with Lego model of UN Building

LEGO Foundation helped to organise the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit on “Architects of a Better World,” where a number of global CEOs carried out series of exercises with creativity kits of LEGO bricks. They built their vision of a stronger future for education, human rights and the environment. Our community member Jacquie Lloyd helped to make this wonderful event alive – we are looking forward to reading her post about this exciting summit.

At the event Secretary-General of the UN Ban Ki-moon finalized the UN model built with LEGO bricks with the Chairman of the LEGO Foundation, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, and LEGO Foundation CEO, Dr. Randa Grob-Zakhary. The model displayed at the UN scales to 165cm high x 240cm wide x 168cm deep providing an authentic representation of the actual UN Headquarters. The model used a total of 90,300 LEGO bricks.

If you are interested to do the same then you may use a smaller scale LEGO Architecture United Nations Headquarters model made of 597 bricks (25.9×11.2×11.2 cm, designed by Adam Reed Tucker). :)

  1. It was a wonderful event, thanks Marco for posting this. The methodology of LSP was used to facilitate a larger conversation about Human Rights, Education, and the Environment in a powerful and meaningful way. The UN identifies the importance of a child’s right to play. The LEGO Foundation sees play not only as a right for children, but also as an important stage of development for humans that spans our entire life. Research has clearly identified the connection between play and learning. LSP practitioners see the evidence of the power of the methodology during ever session.
