Hey all,
Thanks for your replies.
I totally agree with all of you. Clear objectives are key in that regard. Well I am not quite there yet as right now I just had a phone call with an event agency who want to present to the client the approach. So right now I personally believe that they want to work LSP as an experience factor and have no clue right now of how and why it would be beneficial to use LSP in that regard. So I am still in the clarification but wanted to ask the community (thanks again for your replies and personal emails) if experience is there and to get a sparring if it is feasible. I do not want to promise something based on a lack of information. I especially like the idea to use LSP for clarification of the objectives. I will reach out again as soon as I have more information and also first concrete ideas on how to approach this.
Best Manuel

I facilitated a quite similar session in January this year. LSP works nice on that one.
It was about a quite sognificant project wirh lits of struggles where all stakeholders (18) came together to share their view on the status quo establish a new goalsetzing for the end of the year, assess the impediments for moving forward and derived actions to move forward.
If you want to know more we can have a chat!

Thank you for your reply.
Well confidentiality is an issue somehow which I can totally in understand.
What I still don’t understand is that the questions and results within LSP could be shared without risk, as they make only sense to those involved in the process on the one hand even pictures if not disclosing any personal or client information won’t hold any insighta for externals. But clients don’t always tock that way. So it just makes sense to close the database and only open it to certified facilitators.
This was my plan anyways. What we could try is http://get.trainedon.com it is a service for workshop planning and collaboration. It fits the LSP roadmapping approach perfectly. There is one feature missing yet, it is to create a closed library for a certain group but this feature will be implemented soon. We could use it for a) planning our workshops more efficiently b) share workshop roadmaps and get feedback c) create and share modules for internal group users.
What do you think?
October 29, 2015 at 8:44 am #6053Manuel GrasslerParticipantOk, as there are no replies within a few weeks I could assume that nobody is interested in a shared lsp facilitation knowledge platform.
Or was everybody to busy doing workshops?
I’d like to hype this once more as I believe that such a platform would be a huge enhancement to our collaboration and preparation processes.
What do you think?

There is one service in Berlin which lends the Kits presorted and you only have to send them back afterwards! This may help especially if you are going abroad and need your sets with you.
The fees are quite reasonable.
May 26, 2015 at 10:07 am #5438Manuel GrasslerParticipantWhat I did was using the Architecture Set for Service Desing.
Actually I build the environment for e.g. a service desk or a Point of Sale using the monochromatic bricks of the Architecture Studio Set. Then I put in the minifigures and certain intraction points in colored bricks.
With this set up it is easy to point to human/ customer centredness of the service.
Unfortunately I have no pic available right now.
It isn’t LSP but the visualization helps in facilitating certain discussions on the people and interactions taking place!
May 26, 2015 at 8:36 am #5437Manuel GrasslerParticipantHi Jan,
I understand your issues with sorting the bricks and I have spend a lot of time figuring out what works for me.
As I do not think that it is a good way to buy new sets all the time for the clients either on the environmental perspective or on the practical perspective (what is the client doing with a lot of lego bricks without a facilitation training anyway?) I opted for a good storing and re-use solution.
I’d like to share it with you.
I own the following sets:
18 Starter Kits (6 of them mixed togehter for Identity work)
1 Identity and Landscape Kit
1 Connections Kit
20 Window Exploration Kits
20 Duck Building KitsFor the 12 remaining Starter Kits I use the Lego Storage Bricks
They work perfectly for the Starter Kits (on kit fits in easily) and are smaller than the airy Starter Kit Box and they even stack togehter. Nice for transportation and the fit the theme.
For the Identity and Connections Kits I use the Lego Education Storage Bins
The set consists of 6 Bins and the orange sorting trays supplied with the Identity and Connections Kits fit in perfectly. So your small parts don’t get mixed up with the bigger parts and everything sits neat and tight.
For the Exploration Kits and Duck Kits I use Zipper Bags
This works fine especially for small introductions and regarding transportation.
What I found out in one of my first sessions is that you always need a lot of bricks from the skills building module.
e.g. I did my first Workshop with the Starter Kits for Skills Building, then packed them away afterwards and thought that the Identity Kit would be sufficient for the rest of the activities. The bricks were sufficient for 4 people and 5 hrs. But I experienced that the participants were used to the Bricks from the Starter Kits and were looking for them in the Identity Building Phase. But the Identity Kit is composed of different bricks. So this was quite hard for them to search for something the got used to and then the didn’t find them.So I opted for pre-mixing 6 Starter Sets together which will be supplied after the Skills Building Phase in a buffet style on the table.
So I everything is sorted and ready for use and I only need around 30 min. after the Workshops for sorting which is ok.
Hope I could help with it.

I’d like to participate too, unfortunately I am not available on any of the dates due to my vacation. You still need participants after the 14th of June? Then I will have some time!
Cheers Manuel
May 19, 2015 at 8:06 pm #5411Manuel GrasslerParticipantThanks for your points Eli,
Well I am definitely a Stick-to-the-Plan guy if it comes to workshops. The power lies in framing the different challenges with the ultimate goal of the workshop in mind.
The suggestions in using flipcharts or stickies is well suitable. And I do not want to compromise the method in any way.
However workshop reality is that there are certain aspects arising in a workshop the facilitator can’t anticipate. As Robert said in his training: Stick to the Plan but have a Plan B – always.
But let’s drive the discussion to the not so vulnerable part of “normal” business meetings like a weekly Jour Fixe.
I can see LSP there in some good use. What could be done is to develop a pre-defined protocol for recurring meetings which participants can adhere to. The challenges need to be open and more generic though – like
“Which topics are currently at your desks?”
“Which decisions are at the table?”
“What are the strengths of this or that?”I guess you get the point.
It is more like a generic standard agenda which is used in recurring meetings anyway. This is just an idea I carried around with me today but how about defining and developing “Standard” challenges for typical business topics discussed or worked on in regular meetings and putting them on facilitation cards teams could use in their meetings. This would mean that the people in the company or adhering to the meeting needs to be trained in using such cards and “improvising” LSP internally.
This could be a new Workshop Format or Product Facilitators can offer their clients if they are willing to adapt LSP for some reasons on a regular basis. Like “LSP Light for Instant Business Meetings” using the Window Exploration Bag.What do you think? And what are your experiences? Anybody?
