It is fun to see that LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methodology is successful at different corners of the world. This post just appeared in Trinidad and Tobago Daily Express.

“PLAY for Outstanding Results” is the theme of a new conference being hosted by the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business on December 7. The conference comes at a time when there is a great demand for creativity across all organisations in Trinidad and Tobago to tackle the challenges of a difficult economic climate and new organisational structures.

Carded for the MovieTowne Banquet Hall, the conference will be a one-day hands-on and practical experiential one that will introduce creative methodologies to participants to enable organisations to unlock knowledge and creativity to improve performance and solve problems using a combination of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® and games science.

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is an innovative, experimental process designed to enhance innovation and business performance, while games science is the concept of applying game mechanics and game design techniques to engage and motivate people to achieve their goals and promote organisational efficiency.

The day’s activities will be conducted by several international facilitators, including Sylvester Arnab, currently the Lead of Disruptive Media Learning Lab at the Coventry University in the UK and LEGO Serious Play Facilitator; Guillermo Miotti, based in Panama, whose experience is rooted in psychology and human resource management and is also an executive coach and LEGO Serious Play Facilitator; and Adi Montas, a marketing executive at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and a LEGO Serious Play Facilitator.

The strategic play methodologies being used in the conference can be utilised by any type of company across any sector and for any employee at any level. The methods have been proven to improve leadership, communication and thinking skills; unlock creative potential and solve problems through teamwork and collaboration; amongst other benefits.

Dr Nicole Roberts, head of Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at The University of the West Indies in St Augustine has already booked her spot. “I became the head of Department, Modern Languages and Linguistics in 2012. Since then I’ve been looking into ways in which I can enhance the business performance of the department. The ad for the conference seemed to suggest that it engages thinking about innovation and I thought that it could help me perhaps to increase understanding across my entire team so that all members of the department see our work as constructive to the entire unit.”
