Cool addition Sebastian. I could even imagine people to continue building on a model someone else started, or improving and extending a shared model the people on the table built at first instance.

Agree with the aboves. How it could work is by modifying the World Cafe method:
Divide into 3 or 4 groups.
Each group builds.. shares and reflects. +/-1 hour
Half of each table then rotates to another table with their Lego and repeats sharing and reflecting with the half of the group left at that table.
If 3 groups with 6 to 7 each then this…[Read more]

Hi Greet,
Like Wiro said. It is very well possible to work in smaller groups and focus on your role as facilitator. The thing is that you probably want to make sure that they can work on their own. Therefore, make sure that they do enough skills building. And make sure they ‘stick’ to the proces so that everyone gets the change to tell the whole…[Read more]

Just to go short: you could work in two to four smaller groups and try to focus on your role as a facilitator solely. That would mean you won’t be able to listen to every story being told, nor that you can intervene immediately. If that’s not what you want: arrange an extra facilitator. I wouldn’t try to put 19 people together on one table, if I…[Read more]

Hi,
I’m struggling with a workshop I prepare with 19 participants, most of them are entrepreneurs. The participants do not know each other yet, but have engaged in a project for 2 years where they will meet each other every month to discuss specific topics. The goal of the 1,5 days workshop is two-fold: to get to know each other and to get…[Read more]

Hello,
It is important to have an issue / key question around which you will built your questions.
Starting from questions around the actual situation of the team and then progressively having questions which let you go to the answer of the key question / issue of the workshop.Without a central theme, it is difficult. Or you have an…[Read more]

Hi I am new here. At the moment I am designing a workshop LSP for a group of 6 participants. They work in IT.
At the moment I am preparing my LSP-workshop. But I struggle a bit with the questions. Can someone tell me if there are some example questions I can adapt to? -

Until now I’ve always been surprised by the metaphors people come up with while using DUPLO. Therefor I sometimes extent the kit I use with a LEGO Education set of DUPLO ‘Community People’: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Education-Community-People-4591516/dp/B0085Y3K6Y

Thanks for the comments and good to see you both have or have had similar thoughts and frustrations from time to time.
Balint – Your right that they prove us wrong regularly so they need to be there. Just comes down to observation and facilitation and reading if they are being “lazy as a dog” or not (had to get that one in)!

Hi Patrizia,
Here`s a brief outline for a demo I have done a few times which works (at least for me):
1) One 2×1 red transparent
2) Two 1×4 any color but same as 3)
3) One 2×4 any color
4) One 2×3 curved any colorThese make a nice alternative to the duck bricks (at least for me) and in simple terms the challenges start off with animals, then…[Read more]

Hello LSP fellows!
I love challenges and playing with the method and mix it, stretch it, test it.
So, I was wondering: what is the most unusual, creative, innovative, crazy way you have used to show off the power of LSP for collective intelligence? How can you engage with 100 people and intrigue them, create a unique experience that will trigger…[Read more]

Eli
Thanks for your feedback. I actually had my meeting today with the project sponsor. I was somehow able to convey the merits of conducting an LSP workshop in one day and reducing the number and quality of participants to 10-12; with more higher-level outcome. So all these exchanges in the community paid off.
Marko,
thank you for forwarding…[Read more]

Hello Gabriel,
Lately I didn’t participate a lot in the forum, but I am trying to start again. I am also located in Montreal, I started with LSP few years ago, and I am available to help you. For some reason, I am not in the list of Marko’s link, but I am living in Montreal :)
So far, you got very good comments from Marko, Eli, Bruce and others.…[Read more] -

Guys – in my business LSP is just a means to achieving an objective. The objective is for people to talk honestly and creatively and feel engaged in that discussion.
The objective is NOT to be become LEGO Master Builders! I get frustrated when participants place a few bricks and a couple of animals on the table, but if they then use that as the…[Read more]

@Gabriel – as a follow-up to Eli’s comment – there are 4 other facilitators in our community who are from your neighborhood in Quebec or Montreal: http://seriousplaypro.com/members/?s=Montreal – perhaps it is indeed worth getting in touch with them?

Hi Gabriel,
I would suggest running a full two-day workshop with two facilitators. Why waste your customer’s time with a facilitator’s assistant?Use a colleague from this fantastically rich network of professionals. Part of your added value is that you are a member of the Serious Play Pro Community. Your client should value this and pay for…[Read more]

Thank you Balint… it’s nice hearing from you by the way.
Marcos, splitting the group in two is definitely an option I considered given that participants come from two separate groups: a working group (hands-on operational people) and the steering committee (directors and leaders). Building 2 groups of 10 mixing and matching them would…[Read more]

Gabriel, my two cents…
You mentioned the group was going to be 20 participants, I would do one of these 2 scenarios:
1- Split the group in half and have 2 separate sessions.
2- Have them all together in the room but use a facilitator assistant so you can have 2 tables of 10 working at the same time, you give one general instruction or…[Read more] - Load More
