Who are you and why do you want to become a member of SeriousPlayPro community?

Dr. Camilla Nørgaard Jensen is an innovation scholar and process facilitator with a background in Industrial Design Engineering and Interaction Design. She has been certified in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) facilitation method since 2012 and specializes in using the method to amplify the creativity and communication of cross-disciplinary teams grappling with complex problems. In addition to being a dynamic and engaging facilitator, Camilla is also a licensed trainer in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) facilitation method.
Camilla completed her Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Environmental Planning and Design in 2017 and graduated from Aalborg University in 2005 with a combined undergraduate degree and Masters of Engineering in Industrial Design. For her Master thesis, she collaborated with The LEGO Group and the MIT Media Lab to develop an interactive robotic play system for active play during recess breaks. From her experience working in international product design teams both in industry and academia, Camilla realized that the biggest obstacle for organizations to achieve successful outcomes is rarely a lack of topic matter expertise – but rather an inability to create team alignment, make the knowledge in the room shared, and synthesize that knowledge into suitable solutions.
Since leaving her career in Industrial Design Engineering to return to graduate school and complete her dissertation, “Constructive Conversations: Serious Play Approaches for Creating, Sharing, and Mobilizing Tacit Knowledge in Cross-disciplinary Settings”, she has dedicated her career to enable cross-functional teams to work well together while tackling complex problems.
In 2013 Camilla landed a grant from the National Science Foundation to introduce LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in a cross-disciplinary class at Arizona State University. She has since worked with multiple industry clients, contributed to the books “Serious Work” & “What the Duck”, and served twice as the invited keynote speaker at the annual LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® conference for the Americas and Oceania.

Camilla has facilitated a multitude of LSP in higher education and for industry clients. Among the organizations she has served are: Bayer, Freeport McMoran, AngloAmerican, Arizona State University, The National Science Foundation, The Pat Tillman Veteran Center.

Camilla Specializes in Complex Problem Solving, Innovation Acceleration, Veteran Reintegration, Science Knowledge Sharing, Entrepreneurship/Intrapreneurship, Leadership Development, Knowledge-based Value Creation.
