I’d like to share a new project from one of my favorite authors, Steven Johnson. For his upcoming book, “Wonderland: How Play Made the Modern World”, Johnson is producing the companion Wonderland podcast, where he explores the connection between play and innovation.
In the first episode, Johnson shares the story of a young boy’s fascination with a robotic toy doll and how that fascination leads to the creation of the earliest computer. The second episode is about the first video game ever written (Spacewar!) and how this influential piece of software created an entirely new way to play.
In earlier books, Johnson has explored the benefits of working across disciplines and how that curiosity can lead innovators in unexpected directions. I’m excited to see what he does in future episodes with the topics of play and innovation–both central to the LEGO Serious Play method.
