Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoHello Alan!
To be honest, I’m also not a fan of Duplo bricks. I was thinking the same, but users proove me wrong time to time. Although there are few ones like you described, most of them are using the animals/ bricks quite often and for complex models too. The animals/ windows are quite useful, so I will keep them in the set.
My thoughts was to…[Read more] -

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoMarko thank you very much for your input… this helps me tremendously. I will compare your planning with mine and make proper adjustments. Maybe the planning just might convince them to take one day. In fact I am meeting with the team leader tomorrow to work on the planning.
Bruce, your second point is quite valid, in fact when I told my client…[Read more]

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoHi All,
I´d be interested hear views and experiences on the use of Duplo and particularly the pre-built bricks (such as the animals). Every now and again, someone “builds” a made-to-measure metaphor in no time by just picking up one or two duplo bricks and voila – while the rest are digging deeper with their hands looking for answers on the…[Read more]

I agree with what Marko has said and would only add two comments:
First, the firm probably doesn’t appreciate how useful LSP can be, and that is why they only gave you 4 hours.
Second, as they don’the know how useful this will be make sure they go away with ‘actions’ to implement and a subtle note of how you would take this further…[Read more]

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoThe best you can do at this stage is some meticulous planning. Start from the very first minutes and write down all steps that you are planning:
– Introduction to the day by company representative (15-20 minutes)
– Introduction by you to LSP methodology, rules etc (10-15 min)
– Warm up skills building exercises (20-25 min)
– First individual…[Read more] -

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoThat’s my concern as well Marko. In fact when they first asked me to do this, I was immediately thinking of 1 day. When I mentioned this they frowned! On top of that the group will be composed of about 20 people.
Since I am new at this and this would be only my second workshop, what arguments can you suggest I use to convince them otherwise? Or…[Read more]

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoDieter,
I believe that longer sessions happen quite frequently. In SeriousPlayPro community survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/seriousplaypro we had a question: “What types of workshops do you deliver with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®?” One of the answer options was very similar: “Continuous sessions with the same client over a long period”. This r…[Read more]

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoProbably yes, because what you would need in this situation is probably quite extensive exchange on those ad hoc individual approaches that those individual employees have taken so far.
The main concern that I would have – is the time enough for this type of discussion given lots of diverging thoughts about the sector directions among the…[Read more]

thanks for your reply and thoughts. The key word here is approach.
In fact my client is not so much looking at the workshop to help develop a sector strategy per say, but to think of the best approach or framework or mechanism, under which one or more sector strategies can be developed.
This stems from the fact that many of my clients…[Read more]

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoGabriel – that is very interesting assignment you have been invited to assist. It goes beyond the core application of LEGO SERIOUS PLAY in trying to take steps in determining particular strategic choices for the firm. Hence – I see two potential scenarios for you.
One possibility is to frame the approach by using the Business Model Canvas…[Read more]

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoHas anyone used LSP to help in sector specialization strategy? For this they have asked me to facilitate a 4-hour workshop with LSP with the goal of determining the best approach to become…[Read more]

I was wondering whether there are any examples or case studies where LSP was used for long-term change management initiatives involving teams at different locations, growing and evolving teams, implementing new processes and tools.
Thanks,

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoHi Bruce,
Thanks for your reply. I remember in classes, Per stressed the importance of the skills building exercises. I am in New York and these students are from Korea, so,indeed, I can’t make any lego-playing assumptions.
Your insight is right on point!

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoHi Sebastian,
Thanks for your proposed career questions. I see how I can incorporate these suggestions. While I do not think I will have an assistant, I think I can artfully combine your ‘steps/condition’ suggestion with the ‘ideal career’ in the two-hour tile slot.
Your reply is much appreciated!

Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoI’ve done similar short sessions with students. Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years, 3 months agoHi Yla..
Done this before.
A way to save time is to very quickly build a tower or bridge to get familiarity with Lego. As they are college students I would even skip this part and actually make the career model as the warm up exercise.
If you do do the bridge/tower then ask them to modify it to reflect their ideal career.
The second thing I do…[Read more] - Load More
