Mark Hylton wrote in 2009 a short study about “Developing the Competency of Serious Play” at the University of Buffalo. This study was brought to our attention only recently. When he was part of the Masters’ degree program at the University of Buffalo he had the chance to participate in coursework in the development and understanding of problem-solving, leadership, decision-making, and facilitation skills. The major focus of the program was learning how to nurture, develop, and support creative behavior in oneself and in others. The culminating experiences for the degree involved a Masters Project on applying the principles of ‘serious play’ to the workplace, including training as an accredited facilitator for the Lego Serious Play group methodology. His study is downloadable for free on this University of Buffalo website.
