    Dear Wiro,
We do a regular business modelling session at the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne (EPFL). The best reference for this is probably the one written by Yves Pigneur (http://www2.hec.unil.ch/wpmu/ypigneur/2012/04/01/lego-serious-play/)

We also do a Corporate Identity session for students at Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI)…[Read more]

    Hi Greet,
I concur with everything said previously, use smaller groups at separate tables, but all in the same room. Have table groups present their shared models to each other. Use World Café method or at least the mixing and hosting elements to develop a more generalised perception and understanding throughout the group.

The one thing I would…[Read more]

    Hi Greet,

Like Wiro said. It is very well possible to work in smaller groups and focus on your role as facilitator. The thing is that you probably want to make sure that they can work on their own. Therefore, make sure that they do enough skills building. And make sure they ‘stick’ to the proces so that everyone gets the change to tell the whole…[Read more]

The power of LSP as a communication tool is the MODEL.

    Hi Dieter,

Here’s a link to our case study: http://www.caprese.org/EN/experience/Exp_Case_Swisscom_EN.html
Over an 8 month period, 300 period people went through the programme with CAPRESE involved. On a couple of occasions, including the pilot, we brought Per Kristiansen. Per also ran a full 4-day training with the client’s internal…[Read more]

Guys – in my business LSP is just a means to achieving an objective. The objective is for people to talk honestly and creatively and feel engaged in that discussion.

The objective is NOT to be become LEGO Master Builders! I get frustrated when participants place a few bricks and a couple of animals on the table, but if they then use that as the…[Read more]

    Hi Gabriel,
I would suggest running a full two-day workshop with two facilitators. Why waste your customer’s time with a facilitator’s assistant?

Use a colleague from this fantastically rich network of professionals. Part of your added value is that you are a member of the Serious Play Pro Community. Your client should value this and pay for…[Read more]

    Hi Mattia,
I’m sure you could use the methodology for exploring the qualities or attributes required for a new umbrella or discussing the principles that an umbrella should respect: is tensile strength more important than impermeability or ultraviolet protection?
What sort of people use umbrellas?
    How do they use them?
    When do they use them?

    Hi Marko,
I think you’ll find a few cases of research in the social sciences (e.g. the work done by David Gauntlett, Lorenzo Cantoni, etc.)

I can’t really see how it would work in the natural sciences, because it requires people.
    All the best,

@Balint: I was just giving the “official” answer. :-) If that has changed since the introduction of Open Source, it’s news to me. The LEGO Group certainly has written to me informing that I can now re-use bricks with my clients. Doesn’t mean I don’t, but…

    Hi Jan,

I would imagine there are as many answers to your question as there are to the question “How long is a piece of string”. However, there can only be one official answer and that is that each customer should purchase new material for each workshop. If you do multiple workshops with the same customer, the customer can spend the time sorting…[Read more]

Marko is correct. We used the window exploration kit. Due to duration of the workshop (almost 3 hrs) we did in fact consider adding some additional bricks for that last challenge. However

Per Kristiansen replied to the topic A question for the LSP Practitioners and Professionals in the forum Serious Play Pro Forum 11 years ago

    Dear Alexander

The short answer would be that the sets are costly but not expensive. The kits, in particular, the connections kit contain a lot of special elements that are expensive to produce. Historically, LEGO has kept the same margin on the LSP products as on any. In periods it has even been lower, but I believe that it has been adjust to…[Read more]

    Hi guys,
I was curious about your mention of using LSP to create empathy in Design Thinking. While we may all agree that LSP might have the power to facilitate empathy, though I’m not sure that is its primary goal. If you look at IDEO’s main web site, they don’t mention empathy – it’s only when you go to their ideo.org site that you find them…[Read more]
