  • Hello Jason,
I am new here, but sure this is the topic for me! I use LSP in the prototyping stages of design thinking, with very nice results, especially, considering that I am working for innovation in the social sector with people who are much more verbal than hands-on. (I just described my experience…[Read more]

    • Clara – welcome to the community. What you do sounds very interesting. Can you please elaborate more – how do you do this, please?

    • Hello Marko, thanks!
We support social leaders, teachers and entrepreneurs for social change to generate innovation through design thinking consultancy and training, so we call it social design. There is already plenty of evidence that social design is an effective method to solve social problems, specially those wicked ones as most social…[Read more]

    • Thanks Marko! I wasn’t expecting such an honour :). We actually don’t want to give them more lego people, but make them aware that they can create people with all the other bricks..still difficult, though.

    • My pleasure! Of course – there is always a balance of “building with actual physical embodiment”, “building with symbolic bricks” and “building with words”. Some people prefer actual things, the others prefer to build with symbols or words. :)

    • You are right! While we should give people a great time, I believe that we also give them tips to get out of their confort zone. In our sessions we want to look for innovative solutions, and, that might not be possible without a change in the perspective. As you say, there should be a balance.

  • Jon,
Little to add to the rich answers from Joyce and Marko, only want to share that I have found it important to keep the documentation as close to their language as possible, i.e. really use the metaphors and keep them alive. This helps carry the result into the workplace afterwards
    Good luck

    Jon,

Indeed – as Joyce has said: all these questions are thoroughly dealt with at LSP facilitator training sessions. However, if you are interested in this subject in more detail then I would suggest you to read Per’s and Robert’s book. In chapter 4 they talk about the method in detail, incl references to documentation. Also on pp. 138-140 there…[Read more]

  • Jon,

Welcome to the Serious Play community! I agree with Joyce – at most LSP facilitator training sessions those questions are dealt with thoroughly.

Anyway – it depends on an actual session. In most cases I do one day of a simple session where we start off with Window Exploration Bags or Starter Kits. If it is a quick warmup then I let people…[Read more]
