Hi Jon, “where” and “what” did you learn about LEGO Serious Play (LSP)?
I know people from the Agile community who think that getting out a bag of LEGO bricks is an LSP workshop. I know people in top-ranked business schools who think the same thing (I work with one of them). But it isn’t.
The process is extremely powerful when applied…[Read more]

Next question :-)
How do people document the outcomes of a LSP facilitation? Photos and labels? Flipcharts? Notes? Video? How do you present your findings and outcomes to the commissioners of the workshop?

Jason,
Thanks for sharing – sounds like great fun. Would be interesting to find out more.
You might have seen this, but there was a recent post about the connections of the Lego Serious Play and design thinking on this community site. Namely – a reference to a presentation of Arindam Basu:…[Read more]

Lego Serious Play and Design Thinking: A means for gaining Empathy
I recently ran a session for a mentor/men-tee program where I work. We had around 40 members of the program come for this session. I have been running LSP sessions for about a year and teaching Design Thinking for just around two years. This was the first time I was able to try…[Read more]

Jon,
Welcome to the Serious Play community! I agree with Joyce – at most LSP facilitator training sessions those questions are dealt with thoroughly.
Anyway – it depends on an actual session. In most cases I do one day of a simple session where we start off with Window Exploration Bags or Starter Kits. If it is a quick warmup then I let people…[Read more]

Hello Jon,
here my two cents on what works for me on my workshops.
– I keep separate the starter kits in order to supply one by participant on my next workshop. Eventhough I usually do that, I have had times when i decide to mix all of them and place them at the center of the table for self serve, that works too when you are short one or two kits…[Read more] -

Hi Jon, did you do a facilitator training on the use of LEGO Serious Play? These kinds of issues are normally well covered. If you haven’t done a recognized training, I would highly encourage this. You will get informed about practical issues as well as inspiration and insight for using the method and materials. All the best, Joyce

Hi John,
The most important sorting that I find, is to keep the Starter kit pieces separate from the landscape, connections and any other surplus. Getting people started well and without confusion is critical success factors as our LSP mentors knew well when designing the process. When I complete an engagement I take all of the leftover…[Read more]

Hi All
I am just starting to experiment with Serious Play. I could do with some practical advice. Here are a load of questions:Do you mix all your sets together, or do you keep the Landscape and Identity kit separate from the Connections kit, or mix it all in together?
Likewise, do you keep your Starter kits separate?
Do you introduce the…[Read more] -
