I’ve done a couple with the theme “What would a supportive community for X look like?” It allows folks to consider the future direction the community that has come to the conference. At 2 hrs I have done a shared model. I’ve used explorer kits and asked folks to build the shared model in a way they can recover the kit. In one case I was able to…[Read more]

Matevz, your welcome.
For other folks who might read this post the link is http://www.gargoylesoftware.com/lsp/facilitators and also contains a link to a PDF you can print to resort the Explorer kits.
I have found recently that folks who aren’t familiar with what a moose is nor LEGO have a time putting it together. You substitute to the Windows…[Read more]

5 minute intro.
A group of us did something similar. We followed a quick version of normal skill building:
Tower: Intro yourself and say one thing about your tower in 30 secs. Reflection is everybody in the room hold up towers and see how with identical instructions the outcomes are different.
Moose: Build Mike Bowler’s Moose. We have instructions…[Read more] -

We had a lot of fun with this one. It was a packed session that was still filling up after we started. Having two of us allowed Joe to keep to the schedule while I was able to lead late comers to open chairs and

Flora,
Thanks so much for you tips on BrickLink. I will just have to jump in and try it out. I really like the idea of hiding the parts in a gift bag. I went for clear plastic bags because I had never heard of -

Michael,
Thanks. I had seen that link but really didn’t know how the Brinklink world works. If you have tips or tricks to navigate and get good deals, I would eagerly await that blog. -

Dave Gray’s Hero’s Journey Agenda seems like a good way to plan and explain the flow of an LSP session.

Marko,
That appears to have fixed it! Thanks so much for your persistence. One last question. On your recently posted Joomla community session, how long over all was the session? I know the video was shortened. -

Mark,
Thanks for you quick reply but that didn’t seem to fix. I tried several browsers (including clearing cache) across two operating systems and still get the same behaviour. Assuming I’m the only one and you have no other tricks we might need to delete the account and have me restart from scratch.Regards,

Completed my first LSP session yesterday. It was based on a plan created during my facilitation training. I was surprised who well the participants took to notion of building metaphors. It worked well. I hope it is the start of mant chances to play.

I’ve just come from training and a similar question was asked of Robert. He said ask if the team needs to discuss the issue or move on. If they need to discuss, he leaves to get a cup of coffee. In the example he gave they were done in 30 mins and ready to get back on with the workshop as planned.

I agree with all of Sabin’s points.Coach the observers that they are to make no sound or talk and as much as possible no movement.Alternatively coach them on being temporary facilitators so they can appear to have a purpose as long as they follow…[Read more]
