Oklahoma Metropolitan Library System
We are a public library system of 450 employees at 20 locations spread out over a large county. We have an annual staff day (this year on October 14th) from 8 am to 4 pm where employees can come together to collaborate and learn about a wide array of topics related to public libraries and teamwork. Part-time employees are not required to attend, so we typically have about 350 people at the event. Our theme for the day is “Building Together” and building toys will be incorporated into the theme.
Employees will be seated at round tables in groups of 8-10. Ideally, this would be a challenging activity requiring collaboration, cooperation, and communication to achieve a common goal. Personally, I would like to see employees laughing and enjoying their time together as well. We have a tight-knit, but somewhat introverted group. Ultimately, I want to achieve a System-wide feeling of fun, accomplishment, and camaraderie.
