Analyzing the results which come out from a LEGO Serious Play workshop!

May 30, 2016 in Serious Play Discussion

This workshop facilitated with 11 participants – all members of a department – and last for 7 hours.

One day after the workshop I send a survey to all participants and the results are shown below. Based on the study, it looks that the workshop went well but we could not find a perfect solution that can help to over come the obstacles.

The survey results has shown that the company don’t think the solutions which are extracted from the workshop are practical or they can solve the problems.

In my opinion, there are some options that can explain this insight from the workshop:

  • First, the design and the questions were not suitable so the answers couldn’t be reliable solutions at the end.
  • Second, the other possibility could be joining CEO of the company to the workshop exactly after extracting the shared model of company problems, then he starts observing the workshop up to the end. Therefore, the finding solution phase had happened with his presence!

both possibilities force me to find solutions for my LSP workshops in future because in every workshop either of these situations could happen!

It is a very good opportunity for those managers who want to go to change phase but they don’t know where to start.

It is simply a SWOT analysis which all managers have test it before on the papers but using LEGO Serious Play Method will make the results more useful and valuable.

The results which extract from this workshop will make a new understanding about opportunities and treats in their business, and help them to open new windows for innovation in their business!

Service Design with LEGO SERIOUS PLAY

October 14, 2015 in Serious Play Discussion

We presented a slideshow that summarises our experience in doing service design using LEGO SERIOUS PLAY principles. In the presentation we have elaborated on a four-days workshop using the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method for those companies who are trying to design a new service or redesign an existing service. We suggest that this workshop should be conducted with a help of a certified LEGO SERIOUS PLAY facilitator to help the organization.

You may download our presentation here: Service Design with LSP (pdf), the slideshow presented by Mohamad Mahdi at LEGO Serious Play Annual conference 2015 in Billund, Denmark.
