I understand that a number of people here are struggling with obtaining sets of bricks that are sold out. I understand that there are several branches of Lego User Groups who deal with bulk orders of bricks: http://www.lugnet.com/ . Search around for keyword LUGBULK LEGO – this is a program that is set up by LEGO.

So just an idea – perhaps you could get in touch with your local LUG and see if you can order the bricks through their assistance. And if there is no local LUG available then you may consider setting up one yourself. Anybody knows more about this?

I managed to identify the following rules:
    Here are the basic rules:
    – The LUG need min. 10 members (please tell us the member figure of your LUG)
    – The LUG need to feature at least 2 public displays a year (always the events from the previous year count so please send dates and links to pictures of your 2 biggest public events from 2011)
    – The LUG need to exist for at least 1 year (please tell us [TLG, not TBB. -ed] the founding date)
    – The LUG need to have an official website (please send us the link – Facebook, flicker or other social media WEB sites will not be accepted)
    – The LUG need to have at least a 1 page description of the LUG and the activities on the website (please send us the link to that page)
    – Send the Master Data Sheet and the list that you fulfill the above mentioned requirements to the LEGO LUGBULK – Team at lugbulk@LEGO.com no later than the 15th of January (The required information need to be send by every LUG whether the LUG has already participated before in the program or not!)
    – Full details (including the templates mentioned above) should already have been distributed within your LUG, but if not, leave a comment here and we can send them to you, or you can contact TLG at the e-mail address above.

    hi
Re the sold out kits, they are on their way back. It has been a never ending story, but the Identity & Landscape are ready, it is a question of days. The connection kits will be produced end of January, then needs to packaged and go into the warehouse, so all things equal they should be there by Feb

LUGBULK-ing is nice, but is has some limitations. These are the current rules:
It is not allowed to resell the bought elements – there will be a penalty for the LUG if a member is reselling the elements.
Only active elements (no restricted elements and no licensed elements) can be purchased
The minimum order qty per element is 50 pcs. and increase in 50 pcs (except building plates and elements that cost more than 10 DKK/piece)
The minimum order for one LUG is 10000 DKK
The average amount per member to purchase is max. 1500 DKK
The maximum amount of different elements per order is 80
The shipping costs and possible taxes/custom clearings are not included in the element price so they will get on top of the price. The shipping costs are 6 % of the order amount (approx. 60 DKK pr.person).
Members who want to order need to be 16+
AFOLs can only order in one LUG and not order in several LUGs even if they are member of more than one LUG.

So, as the Fiddel Bag has approx. 150 elements, you won’t even be able to make them through LUGBULK.

I’ve tried to recreate sets for 2-3 workshops while LEGO’s production has been down, and would rather not have to do that again. I’m looking forward to order Identity & Landscape kits again. Much easier!

    Regards,
    -Erik
