Yla Eason’s Summary
Yla is the Learning and Development Director at R/GA. Previously, she was the Director of Learning and Development at the Center for Excellence in Advertising at Howard University and was a Lecturer at the Business School at Medgar Evers College, City University of New York (CUNY). There she taught marketing, advertising and entrepreneurship and was the corporate engagement liaison between Medgar and Omnicom for the marketing communications initiative.
During the academic year, she presented “Using Google to Manage a Collaborative Community Service Project” at CUNY’s Information Technology Conference and at the Hispanic Educational Technology Services Conference in Puerto Rico. Recently, her students won first place at the Wharton School of Business case competition.
She received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Fitchburg State College, MA. She has earned numerous awards and honors for founding and growing to $5 million Olmec Toys, a multicultural toy company, including an honorary Ph.D. from Bloomfield College; The Business Enterprise Trust Award from President Bill Clinton in 1996; and a business case was written about her: Yla Eason: Encouraging discussion of shifting demographics.
A TED Ed Brain Trust member and advisory board member of TEDx Harlem, Women in Technology, and the American Marketing Association member, her specialty is developing digital advertising curriculum for professionals.
